Wildlife Refuges

Programs that provide for the conservation, protection and management of wildlife through the establishment of a system of preserves that are set aside for their habitation and protected from human depredation and interference. Included are sanctuaries for animals; preserves on estuaries, wetlands and other preferred habitats for wild birds of all types; and coastal, lake, reservoir and other inland fisheries where different species of fish are hatched in protected environments and used to stock waters that have been depleted.
